Our program is honored to have earned a five-star rating with Yoga Alliance, a testament to the dedication and love we put into every part of this journey. We are so proud of our graduates, who continue to inspire us with the incredible things they’re doing for themselves and their communities. Their journeys are a beautiful reflection of the growth and transformation that happens here, and we’re grateful to be part of that.

Course Information

Throughout the year, you will immerse yourself in the transformative teachings and practices of yoga during one weekend each month. These weekends are thoughtfully designed to balance both active and reflective learning, helping you build stamina while fostering receptivity to the teachings. With a month between sessions, you’ll have time to integrate what you’ve learned through personal practice and self-reflection, creating space for deep growth.

A few important details:

  • There is one Zoom call scheduled between in-person weekends for connection and support.
  • Each month, you’ll have light to moderate reading and homework to enrich your learning.
  • Weekends are divided into focused segments: Teaching Methodology, Anatomy & Physiology, Yoga Lifestyle & Ethics, and Techniques, Training, & Practice.
  • To meet certification standards, each weekend must be attended within the one-year period.

Training Schedule: The 12 training weekends are held once a month, for one year. Sessions take place on Saturdays from 8 AM to 5 PM and Sundays from 9 AM to 5 PM.

In keeping with our values of openness and accessibility, the full cost of our training program is $3200. We also offer scholarships through VSAC (see below) and a sliding scale to ensure that finances aren’t a barrier to your journey. All course materials are yours to keep for life, so you’ll have everything you need to continue growing long after the program ends.

Upon completing the year-long training, you’ll be a certified yoga teacher, ready to share your light with the world. Or perhaps you’ll find that your heart finds a home here at Heart Space, where the journey continues in community and support.

Module Descriptions:

MODULE ONE – Clarify Your Intentions
Sankalpa, meaning to clarify your intentions, is the foundation of this module. In this session, we’ll explore how to bring your highest ideals into every aspect of your practice. We’ll work with the Muladhara (root) chakra, grounding ourselves from the foundation up, using principles that support your greatest potential and soul expression. You’ll learn techniques to set a purposeful tone and center your students. The asana focus will be on hip openers and standing poses, and we’ll deepen our practice through stories of the Goddess Kali, enriching the meaning of yoga.

MODULE TWO – Shiva / Shakti: Finding Balance
Hatha Yoga invites us to embrace the union of opposites, and in this module, we’ll explore the sacred dance between Shiva and Shakti. Focused on the Svadhisthana (sacral) chakra, we’ll work with the intimacy of relationships and the fluidity of breath. We’ll delve into Tantric Philosophy, the Quadrinity model, and pranayama practices, all while finding balance and exploring alignment principles for the hips. This module helps you unlock new depths of flow and connection, both within yourself and with others.

MODULE THREE – The Five Acts of Shiva
In this session, we dive into the ancient wisdom of Tantric Philosophy and its relevance to our lives as modern-day Yogis. We’ll explore the pulse of life, learning to ride the waves of energy and recognize the bliss in every moment. Discover the Malas of yoga, and tune into the primary pulses of energy that connect us all. Through these teachings, you’ll cultivate a deep sense of connection to the divine rhythm of life.

MODULE FOUR – Taking the Seat of the Teacher
Stepping into your role as a teacher begins by activating the Manipura (solar plexus) chakra, where your personal power resides. Here, we’ll explore the concept of Tapas—the discipline and fire needed to blaze your path with truth. Topics like the bandhas, the primary currents of prana, and the essence of Kundalini will be explored as you learn how to step into your unique power and teach from a place of authenticity.

MODULE FIVE – Unfolding the Heart
In this module, we’ll open to the wisdom of the Anahata (heart) chakra, learning to connect deeply with the hearts of our students. With an emphasis on alignment principles for the upper body (neck, shoulders, elbows, and wrists), we’ll explore backbends and shoulder openers. Stories of Lakshmi Maha Devi will guide us to step into the abundance and beauty of the heart. This module will also focus on Seva, the art of living and teaching from the heart, and how to serve others with love.

MODULE SIX – Find Your Voice & Speak Your Truth
The Vishuddha (throat) chakra invites us to speak with clarity and authenticity. In this session, we’ll practice mantra, chant, and sound as powerful vehicles for communication. You’ll learn techniques for precise, heartfelt teaching, and how to use language to inspire and uplift your students. We’ll also explore effective leadership qualities and specific alignment for the throat and skull in asana postures, including Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand).

MODULE SEVEN – Drishti: Inner and Outer Vision
With the Ajna (third eye) chakra as our guide, we’ll explore cultivating clarity of inner awareness and vision. This module includes different meditation techniques, teaching you to guide others in practice with focused intention. We’ll also learn about the art of class composition and sequencing, weaving inspiration and purpose into every class. Through the wisdom of the Goddess Saraswati, we’ll deepen our understanding of discernment and the power of knowledge.

MODULE EIGHT – The Bliss of Being: Sat / Chit / Ananda
This session will explore the Sahasrara (crown) chakra, opening to our connection to Universal Energy. What is the highest purpose of yoga? We’ll dive into the bliss of Sat (Truth), Chit (Consciousness), and Ananda (Bliss). You’ll also explore inversions, learning how to safely guide students through these powerful postures while preparing them to face the challenges that arise when we turn the world upside down.

MODULE NINE – The Art of Theming
In this final module, we’ll explore the art of weaving inspirational themes into your classes. By connecting with your own self-exploration, you’ll uncover themes that resonate deeply with you, and learn how to relate these personal themes to Universal Truths. This practice helps you reach your students at a deeper level, creating a space for reflection, growth, and connection.
