10 Powerful Steps to Better Serve The World

yoga with rosesHow we respond to the challenges and changes of our time is completely subjective.  People have different ways of thinking behaving, participating and responding to life.  The Truth is, we all want to be happy. We all want to be safe. These are the most common human desires.  It is just that each person has a different view on how to arrive at this destination.

Some of us, for different reasons, are more aligned with our fear.   When we orient from this view, we experience contraction, separation, pain, and fragmentation.  When we are aligned with our deeper essence, there will be more union, connectivity, tolerance, love, and equality.

The point is, we are ALL human.  These polarities have existed forever through time.  Everything we see on the outside is also a reflection of what exists on the inside.  I know…it’s a hard pill to swallow… but this too is part of who we are. At the deepest sense of Source, there is no OTHER.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

Only YOU know what YOU can do.  Each one of us is meant to do our thing….Our part, the way only we know how.  It is time we say a big YES to that invitation. Now is the time to get clear.  What are your gifts? How will show up, and what will you offer this world?

We truly are awakening….Things are happening fast, but, it’s hard to see our progress because the polarities are so extreme!!  But we just need to do our part and HOLD THE LIGHT.

10 Empowering Steps to Better Serve the World

  1. Take care of yourself.  Keep your vibration high.  This includes an open, miracle mindset.  A big picture view…really big. Meditation is key here.
  2. Clear out the muck.  This is the residue of our bloodlines, behaviors, and patterns that no longer serve.  When we recognize the source of our own toxicity, and take steps to process, clear, and cleanse the murky sludge, we begin to clear our vision both inwardly and outwardly.  From here, our natural purpose can start to unfold. Yoga is great for this!
  3. Don’t medicate with habits that create false benefits.  False benefits are a way to escape what we feel. We might do this through using alcohol, drugs, relationships, Facebook -whatever.  This only prolongs and deepens our cycle of suffering and frustration. We will be of no use to the world, when we can’t take care of ourselves.  Get help if you need it! You are NOT NOT NOT alone!
  4. Eat at an earlier lighter dinner and  -When you eat late and sleep, your body spends most all of its energy attempting to digest what’s in your full stomach.  When this is the case, you wake feeling depleted because your body has not had the time and space to renew itself. -Eat your main source of protein midday then stick with soups, salads, and easy to digest one pot meals.  Try to eat by to 6 pm!!!
  5. Go to sleep by 10 pm. Get better rest.  Go to sleep intentionally. Give your feet a massage with oil!  Light a candle, say a prayer. Use essential oils. Journal any unfinished business from the day.  Notice if there are relationships that need attention , a call that could be made, etc. Write it all down.  Get to it the next day instead of staying awake thinking about it. Clear the slate and allow your body to rejuvenate.
  6. Pray.  Bring about the feeling of love in your own heart.  Then gently let it unfold to encompass the whole. Visualize healing, clarity, and Love flowing through our leaders, our heroes, victims, and perpetrators.  Sing. Chant. Pray. Believe.
  7. Find Your Power.  Stand for WHO YOU ARE, and what you believe.  CHOOSE LOVE above FEAR. LOVE over hatred / fear.  Start with YOURSELF.
  8. Support others who are following their hearts!  If you find yourself jealous…That’s a sign! What is it you are not doing for yourself?  Now is the time to stand in your light. The world needs every bit!
  9. We have what it takes to make such beauty.  Make beauty every day! Practice kindness.
  10. Reach out to others.  Encourage, include, inspire, recognize the light in All……

To Heal is to Make Whole – Yoga as a Means to Connect

To Heal is to Make Whole – Yoga as a Means to Connect

meditation cymbal bellA breath-centered practice invites us to let the supremely intelligent pulse of life. From here we flow and move our bodies instead of pushing through with just the mind. When we align with this subtle energy, our actions are informed from a deeper awareness that unites our instinct with intuition. When we hold or neglect the breath and move from the mind only, we block the flow of life and as a result, our actions are much less intelligent and coordinated. When we are disconnected from our essence, we suffer or cause suffering. When we are in the flow of life, essence, and deeper awareness, there is greater ease… more space, joy, spontaneity, abundance! The yogis have been telling us this for thousands of years! – What does your heart tell you?

We are on a path of learning and remembering. We are each different expressions of the ONE unified energy of the WHOLE. This process of disconnect / connect, is happening all the time with all of us. In Tantra, this pulsation is not seen as a problem. ESPECIALLY when we understand and recognize it. It is called “Spanda” or the pulse of Life. With awareness, the process of both concealment (disconnect, confusion) AND revelation (clarity and resonance) is how we find our way Home to our Hearts. (Even though we have never been away….)

The very reason Yoga is considered “a practice” is that over and over again we forget, disconnect, and become fragmented. We get distracted with everything around us and all of the drama that unfolds in our individual lives. When we do this, we stress. We leave our center and get pulled to the periphery. This is for real. For example. Look at what happens with the digestive system when stress chemicals are circulating through your body… Much of the blood is pulled out of the digestive system (your center) and flows to the periphery so your body can prepare for fight or flight. Our bodies cannot distinguish the difference between average everyday stress and the kind of stress that makes you run for your life! The same chemical process occurs. Many of us live in our periphery while every part of us longs for HOME.

Live Like a Yogi course is designed to help you step more deeply into what the path of yoga is truly about. Connection. Here we explore rhythms, routines, and practices that bring us to balance, integration, clarity, and Truth. You will learn the Ayurvedic perspective of diet, health routines, energy medicine, and meditation that will change and improve your life forever! If you are interested in integrating your yoga all the through to the core you will love the course, and how you will feel as a result. True shift and change is possible for each one of us. We just have to get “smarter” than our limited minds and habits.

To live connected to your body, breath, inner value and light, this is what it means to Live a Yogi. When we find our way home to ourselves, we simultaneously merge with a bigger purpose and way to serve.

May we be in the flow of our greatest Truth and serve each other and live with kindness, love, joy and abundance!

The Dawning of a New Identity

The Dawning of a New Identity

The Dawning of a New Identity

namasteAfter setting intentions for the New Year, we are faced with the opportunity to turn our goals into reality by creating new habits for a change.  In other words, this is where the rubber hits the road! We all know how easy it is to fall back into the patterns of inertia or comfort. “If the desire to feel good is greater than the yearning to seek, know, and experience Truth… our perception becomes distorted”.  If we aren’t careful, little by little we settle back into our previous, predictable, routines and identities.

Many of the plans, ambitions, and goals, we come up with, originate from purely a mental or superficial state.  We “think” we know what we want and where we want to go… and this is GREAT. After all, it’s the passion of desire and fire of the mind that moves us, motivates us, and creates change!  BUT, there is another aspect to this motivational energy.

Have you ever slowed yourself down, entered a quiet state of receptivity, and with pure openness asked yourself the question  “How does the creative energy of life, wish to move through me?”

Yogis for centuries have used the time before dawn, known as Brahma Muhurta, as a potent window of power.  The shape-shifting elements of air and space are most dominant here. In this liminal space before the rising sun, and world of form and identity take hold, it is possible to shift the way you see yourself.  Tune in here for guidance when you seek a change. Sit in silence, and listen. Feel your desire to know, then quiet your mind, follow your breath, and be open.

Who do you want to be next?  What calls to you now?

The limitless possibility of YOU awaits your recognition!

The Dawning of a New Identity

Happy Woman’s Day!

As women, our societal structure expects and demands so much of us.
-At the studio last week we had some great dialogue around what it’s like to be a “modern woman”.
Women these days, take on so many roles! Homemaker, mother, successful career person, school supporter, and loving partner are just a few to mention. Oh, ya, in addition, we should be fit and healthy, have the house clean and be cheerful and inspiring to boot. Wow. This is a lot to take on! First and formost, to allievieate stress, we have to:
  • Realize we cannot do it all. We simply cannot be everything to all people.
  • Get very clear about what is most important to us
  • Be realisitc about what we hold ourselves resonsible for.
Creating healthy boundaries is key for health, balance, and success. This, in combination with SELF CARE, is critical. READ HERE to check out a short article I wrote for 10 Tips to Help With Stress!
